POSITION OVERVIEW:

Rajant Health Incorporated is looking for a hands-on

Senior Software Engineer

to design, build, and scale modern distributed systems. You'll own services end-to-end, influence architecture, and help raise the engineering bar in a fast-moving environment. Experience with robotics software development using

ROS 2

is highly valued and will be an advantage in this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

System Design & Architecture

· Design and evolve scalable, fault-tolerant microservices and APIs

· Make pragmatic trade-offs around consistency, latency, and cost

· Contribute to architecture decisions and long-term technical strategy

Backend & Distributed Systems

· Build and operate backend services using modern languages

· Design event-driven and asynchronous systems where appropriate

· Model and manage data across services and storage systems

Reliability & Performance

· Improve system performance through profiling, benchmarking, and tuning

· Build observable systems with metrics, logs, and tracing

· Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and prevention

Delivery & Ownership

· Own services end-to-end (design → implementation → deployment → operation)

· Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and improve developer workflows

· Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to ship features

Engineering Excellence

· Write high-quality, well-tested, maintainable code

· Conduct thoughtful code reviews and drive best practices

· Mentor engineers and contribute to a strong engineering culture

CORE REQUIREMENTS:

Experience

· 4+ years of software engineering experience

· Experience owning production systems or major features end-to-end

Programming

  • Strong proficiency in Python with experience building and operating production applications.

  • Experience with ROS 2 is a significant advantage.

  • Experience with Go is highly preferred.

  • Additional experience with JavaScript/TypeScript or other programming languages is a plus.

  • Ability and willingness to learn and work effectively across multiple languages as needed.

APIs & Services

· Experience designing and building APIs (REST and/or gRPC)

· Understanding of service boundaries and API versioning

Distributed Systems Fundamentals

· Strong grasp of concepts like concurrency, scaling, consistency, and fault tolerance

· Experience debugging production issues in distributed environments

Data & Storage

· Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases

· Understanding of data modeling, indexing, and query performance

Cloud & Infrastructure

· Experience building and deploying applications in cloud environments (AWS, Azure,

or GCP)

· Familiarity with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience developing software using ROS 2.

  • Familiarity with robotics software, distributed robotic systems.

  • Experience with messaging and streaming systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, MQTT, etc.).

  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform).

  • Experience with edge computing or real-time systems.

  • Exposure to security best practices (OAuth, JWT, secrets management, etc.).

  • Experience improving developer experience through tooling, testing frameworks, and CI/CD.

  • Experience working in Linux-based development environments.

  • Experience with modern C++.
