Senior IT Support Technician - MSP Field & Remote

Tech365

On-siteIndianapolis, INsenior$52k–$75kPosted 1h ago

Job description

Tech365 · Indianapolis, Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville, Westfield & Greater Marion/Hamilton County, IN Full-time · In-person + field work · $48,000-$75,000/year, by demonstrated skill level.

The short version

  • You'll be a senior generalist across desktops, servers, networks, firewalls, cloud, and cabling - not a password-reset seat.

  • Different client, different industry, different problem, most days. Restaurants, law firms, manufacturing floors, medical offices, real estate.

  • You'll work with real independence. We give you context and access, not a script.

  • Final step of our hiring process is a paid, on-site working interview. You see the real job. We see real work. Nobody guesses.

If you need a ticket queue where someone else decides what happens next, this isn't your role. If you've ever been the person everyone at your last shop quietly routed the hard stuff to - keep reading.

About Tech365

We're a Managed Service Provider in Central Indiana. Our clients are small and mid-sized businesses that can't afford to be down - a restaurant during dinner rush, a law office at a filing deadline, a manufacturer mid-run.

Our mission: keep organizations running, their teams supported, and the people they serve taken care of - using technology that solves today's problems, anticipates tomorrow's, and handles the ones no one saw coming.

We're small enough that your work is visible and your name is on it. There's no layer of management between you and the decision.

What the job actually looks like

A Tuesday might be: remote-fixing a mail flow issue in Microsoft 365 before 9 a.m., driving to a client in Fishers to swap a failed switch and clean up a rack that's been a mess since 2019, taking a call from a controller who can't get QuickBooks to talk to the network share, then closing out with documentation so the next person isn't starting from zero.

You'll own the outcome from the first call to the closed ticket.

Client support & troubleshooting

  • Handle client requests by phone, remote session, and onsite visit

  • Diagnose and resolve issues across workstations, printers, firewalls, networking, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, QuickBooks, email, cameras, and IoT/sensor devices

  • Communicate clearly with non-technical clients and keep them informed while you work

  • Document your work accurately in the PSA/ticketing system - steps taken, root cause, resolution

  • Pull in other Tech365 team members when a second set of hands or another specialty is the faster path

Network & infrastructure

  • Install, configure, and maintain firewalls, routers, switches, modems, and access points (UniFi, SonicWall, and similar)

  • Run, terminate, and test structured cabling; troubleshoot existing wiring

  • Leave every rack organized, labeled, and better than you found it

Systems & cloud administration

  • Support virtualized environments on Hyper-V and similar platforms

  • Administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Google Workspace, and other SaaS platforms

  • Maintain backup systems, verify restores, and support RMM and remote management tooling

Hardware & field work

  • Hardware setup, replacement, and troubleshooting with minimal supervision

  • Work on servers, racks, and infrastructure at client sites to keep uptime where it belongs

  • Lift up to 60 lbs, climb ladders, and work in office, retail, and industrial environments

What success looks like

First 30 days - You're closing tickets independently across our top client environments, and your documentation is good enough that someone else could pick up your work cold.

First 90 days - You're the primary tech on a defined set of clients. They ask for you by name. You've caught at least one problem before the client noticed it.

First 6 months - You're running project work start to finish: a firewall replacement, an office move, a server migration. You've improved at least one thing about how we do the work, because you got tired of doing it the slow way.

What we're looking for

Required

  • 3+ years in IT support or a similar technical role - MSP experience strongly preferred

  • Solid troubleshooting across Windows, networking (IP/DNS/DHCP/VLANs), and business applications

  • Hands-on with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace administration

  • Experience with firewalls, backups, and remote tooling (RMM, PSA, ticketing)

  • Comfortable working a ticket you were handed with incomplete information - you ask good questions, then move

  • Strong client communication; you can explain a problem calmly to someone having a bad day

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

  • You can pass a background check (many of our clients require it)

Helps you stand out

  • UniFi and/or SonicWall configuration depth

  • Hyper-V or VMware administration

  • Structured cabling experience - you've terminated more than a handful of drops

  • Exposure to HIPAA-aware or PCI-aware environments

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft 365 Fundamentals - useful, but your track record matters more than the paper

The honest part

We'd rather tell you now than waste your time in round three.

  • You will work with real independence. You'll get context, access, and backup when you ask for it. You won't get step-by-step direction on every ticket. Some situations you'll walk into with almost nothing — a client who says "the internet is broken" and nothing else. Figuring that out is the job, not an inconvenience of the job.

  • There is an on-call rotation. Roughly one week in rotation. Our clients don't only break between 8 and 5.

  • This is a field role. You'll drive across Marion and Hamilton County most weeks. Mileage is reimbursed at the federal rate.

  • It's physical some days. Ladders, cable pulls, 60 lb boxes, dusty server closets, occasionally a manufacturing floor.

  • You're the face of Tech365 on-site. How you present matters as much as whether the fix works.

What you get

  • Pay set by demonstrated skill, not by the number on your resume (see tiers below)

  • Health/dental benefits stipend

  • Paid time off / Sick time off

  • Professional development support: certifications and training we'll pay for

  • Exposure to a genuinely wide range of technology and industries - you will not get bored

  • Credit for your work, and a direct line to the owner

How we pay

We hire at three levels for this seat. Where you land isn't decided by your resume or how well you interview — it's decided by what you actually do during the paid working interview.

Technician II - $48,000–$56,000 You close tickets independently across Windows, Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace. You handle hardware and standard client requests without supervision. On infrastructure work — firewall changes, switch configuration, virtualization — you're capable but you still check in.

Senior Technician - $58,000–$68,000 You walk into an undocumented client network and have it mapped and stabilized the same day. You configure UniFi and SonicWall gear without a runbook. You own projects end to end and your documentation is good enough that nobody has to ask you a follow-up question.

Lead Technician - $68,000–$75,000 Everything above, plus you set the standard. You're the escalation point other techs route to, you catch problems before clients report them, and you improve how the whole team works.

If you come in at Technician II and perform at Senior, we move you at the 90-day review. That's a commitment, not a maybe.

How we hire

  • Phone screen (~20 min) - role fit, independence, on-call, logistics

  • Technical conversation - real scenarios, not trivia

  • Paid, on-site working interview - you spend a day with us and with real clients

That third step is deliberate. Most MSPs hire off a video call and hope. We'd rather both of us know exactly what we're signing up for. You get paid for the day either way.

How we work

  • Integrity First - We do what we say. Honesty and transparency in every interaction.

  • Own the Outcome - No finger-pointing. We take responsibility and solve the problem.

  • Team Before Self - We back each other up and share what we know.

  • Client Obsessed - Our clients' success is our success. We go the extra mile every time.

  • Continuous Improvement - Never settle. Always find a better way.

  • Families Matter - Our decisions affect the families of teammates, clients, and partners. We act with care, respect, and responsibility.

If those read as things you already do without being asked, apply.

Pay: $52,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Health insurance

  • Paid time off

  • Professional development assistance
