Data Engineer Analyst

Minneapolis, MN – Full-Time

JOB SUMMARY

DataUp Consulting is looking for a driven individual who is excited to learn and grow in the data space. As a Data Engineer Analyst, you will play a key role in delivering successful client engagements, helping design and implement data architectures across our core platforms, including Domo, Strategy, and Snowflake. You will support the full data lifecycle, from data acquisition and transformation to visualization and reporting, gaining hands-on experience with modern ETL, cloud data warehousing, and BI tools along the way. This role is a great fit for someone who wants to build a strong foundation in data engineering and analytics while contributing directly to real client outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Collaboration

Engage with clients to understand their business objectives, data requirements, and analytics goals.
Collaborate closely with stakeholders to gather and analyze data-related requirements and constraints.

Architecture & Data Modeling

Design scalable and efficient data architectures based on client specifications and industry best practices.
Develop and maintain data models across Domo, Snowflake, and Strategy environments, ensuring they align with business needs and accommodate future scalability.

Data Integration & ETL

Oversee the integration of diverse data sources into a cohesive and unified system.
Build and maintain ETL/ELT processes to ensure data quality and consistency, using tools such as Domo Magic ETL, Azure Data Factory, and Snowflake.
Write and optimize SQL for data transformation, and develop Python scripts to automate recurring data loads and file transfers.

BI & Data Platform Expertise (Domo, Strategy, Snowflake, Power BI)

Leverage deep knowledge of the Domo platform, including Magic ETL, to build effective dashboards, visualizations, and reports.
Work within Strategy Mosaic and Strategy AI to support enterprise reporting and embedded analytics.
Apply Snowflake expertise to support scalable, secure cloud data warehousing.
Build and maintain reporting in Power BI for client and internal use cases as needed.
Explore and apply Claude AI integrations to streamline data workflows, documentation, and analytics support.
Stay current on updates across Domo, Strategy, Snowflake, and Power BI to optimize platform utilization and enhance data processing capabilities.
Collaborate with the development team to customize and extend ETL and reporting functionality to meet specific project requirements.

Performance & Reliability

Implement performance tuning strategies to enhance the speed and efficiency of data processing and reporting.
Support and maintain production databases, helping ensure uptime, performance, and data integrity.

Security & Compliance

Ensure data security and compliance with relevant industry regulations.
Implement and help enforce data governance policies to maintain data integrity and confidentiality.

Team Collaboration & Growth

Work closely with developers to ensure data is structured and aggregated at the correct level.
Receive guidance and mentorship from senior team members while contributing your own ideas to the team.
Participate in regular knowledge-sharing sessions on Domo, Strategy, Snowflake, and BI best practices.
Help foster a culture of innovation, with feedback from every team member contributing to better data solutions.

Documentation & Training

Create and maintain documentation for data architecture, processes, and solutions.
Take part in training sessions to build proficiency across the DataUp technology stack.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (CS), Information Technology (IT), Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Foundational knowledge of SQL, data modeling, and ETL/ELT concepts.
Exposure to Domo, Strategy, Snowflake, Power BI, or Azure (Data Factory, Azure SQL) is a plus, but not required – we invest in training the right person.
Basic Python scripting ability, or strong interest in developing this skill.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with comfort working directly with clients.
A driven, self-motivated approach and genuine curiosity about data, analytics, and emerging AI tools.
