Job Title:

Database Analyst (Data Analyst II)

Duration

: Three months of contact, with potential for extension.

Work Arrangement:

Remote (Must be local to Arizona)

Schedule:

40 hours/week | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (OT expected)

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled

Database Analyst

to provide analytical and operational support for data-related projects within a public fiduciary office. This role involves working with information from multiple systems and data sources to analyze, validate, organize, and improve the quality of departmental data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, review, and validate data across databases, spreadsheets, case management systems, reports, and other sources to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.

  • Investigate data discrepancies, anomalies, missing information, and quality issues to identify root causes, patterns, and appropriate resolution steps.

  • Manipulate and analyze large datasets using Microsoft Excel (formulas, filtering, sorting, lookups, PivotTables) and other available tools—organizing, reconciling, summarizing, and presenting information for operational or management use.

  • Maintain spreadsheets, reports, tracking tools, queries, and other methods for monitoring data quality, project progress, trends, and outcomes.

  • Update and maintain information within case management systems and databases based on verified data and established business processes.

  • Support departmental data projects by gathering requirements, understanding business needs, determining analytical approaches, and producing accurate, usable results.

  • Perform quality assurance reviews to identify recurring data issues and opportunities to improve data integrity, processes, documentation, or reporting.

  • Clearly document analytical methods, findings, limitations, discrepancies, and completed work to ensure results can be reviewed and reproduced by others.

  • Communicate findings, questions, and potential data concerns to supervisors, subject-matter experts, and staff in a clear, organized manner.

  • Handle confidential client and departmental information in compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and data security requirements.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience:

    3–5 years in database administration, database analysis, data management, or a related analytical role.

  • Technical Proficiency:

    Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, lookups, PivotTables, filtering, sorting, large datasets).

  • Analytical Mindset:

    Strong ability to investigate data issues, recognize inconsistencies, patterns, outliers, and quality problems—not just identify them.

  • System Agility:

    Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar databases, case management systems, business processes, and data structures.

  • Data Relationship Understanding:

    Capable of understanding connections between information stored across different systems, reports, and spreadsheets.

  • Self-Management:

    Ability to independently organize work, manage multiple assignments, and drive projects to completion.

  • Communication:

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain data findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred but not required).

  • Experience with system improvement projects and project management.
